Recently, when we added someone new to our team at Smart Church Solutions, we shared a bit about them with you. However, several incredible staff members have not been in the spotlight.
This week, we want to introduce you to Nathan Parr, one of our Facility Stewardship Specialists. Nathan shares his passion for improving church operations to further Kingdom work. When not out partnering with churches, he can be found at home with his high school sweetheart and three kids, more than likely reading or watching an obscure documentary.
We are incredibly blessed to have Nathan on our team. We asked him a few questions so that you would also see how great he is.
Where Do You Live?
In a van, down by the river. Well, more like a house near a lake in Morgans Point Resort, Texas.
What Do You Like To Do For Fun?
I enjoy working in the yard and spending time with my three Pyradors. I also like to tinker with my M1097A2 HUMMWV.
Why Did You Join the Team at Smart Church Solutions?
Bribes — just kidding. It was an opportunity that was presented to me by Tim Cool, Chief Stewardship Officer. After 30 days of prayer by my family and me, we all felt the Holy Spirit affirm that this was the path I was being sent on. All I have experienced up to that point and since has been integral in connecting with and serving churches.
What Most Excites You About Working With Churches?
Having the opportunity to partner with those that are willing to accept and put in the work of being effective and efficient stewards is awesome. I can crank out data all day. But seeing organizations take it, make demonstrable changes, and begin to break the cycle of deferred maintenance, which in turn starts the process of freeing future generations of debt related to poor planning. It’s humbling and fulfilling.
Ok — Now Brag About Yourself A Little, Nathan
God prepared me in a way I would have never thought of (as He often does). I studied theatrical design through college and worked in commercial landscaping, roofing, and construction. Additionally, I have owned my own construction company.
I served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005 under the 1st Marine Division. I also worked as an operations manager for a large Texas church for over 12 years. While working full-time in the church, I completed my undergraduate degree in Social Science and earned a Master of Theological Studies (with honors), and I earned a Master of Business Administration.
